Rausch Creek Sept 21st Race Recap!

Round #13 of the Pennsylvania State Harescramble Series was held at Rausch Creek MX Park in Tremont, PA this past Sunday.
The weather conditions where ideal and the track, like every Rausch Creek track, was rocky! The only benefit of holding the event at the MX Park and not the Tower City location was that the track was only 6 miles long where as the summer national track was over 13 miles long. This location also offered motocross tracks which the course designers decided to incorporate into the loop.
Again since it was a PA State race I found myself on the front line with all of the local pro guys. I didn’t have any problem banging bars with them in the first couple turns. I got a good start and was up in the front of the pack. On the first lap I tried to get over all of the surprises that the track designers like to throw at you. Like screaming up an up-hill and not being able to see what was on the other side until you just started going over the crest, only to find that you are going back straight down but you have to turn in the middle of the downhill. After the first lap I felt good and had a good pace just trying to make my way around the track without getting too beat up from all of the rocks. I came through the scanner and on the second lap I started to feel weird. I was feeling sick again but this time it was like an upset stomach. I knew that it wasn’t from the heat because it’s wasn’t super humid outside. The more my stomach bounced around on those rocks the sicker I got. It got to the point where I was going to get sick so I had to stop and get some air. At this point I am just so frustrated because the past couple of rounds the heat got to me and now I was getting sick to my stomach! This is really starting to get on my nerves because I work hard all week and feel fine and then on all days, race day, here I am out on the track getting sick. Well after about 10 minutes or so, I decided to give it a go to see how I felt and in a matter of seconds I was bouncing off all the boulders again. I felt okay and decided to just make it around to the scanner; I made it around and decided to keep going. At this point getting a decent position in the race was out of the question so I just made it a point put in a good ride and see what happened. What happened was I finished in 9th place, which like I said I am ticked about - I’ve had it with these past couple of back of the pack finishes!
The real story of the day was DHaggs Sr. putting in a good ride. He took a nasty spill himself completely falling backward on a huge uphill, but still he managed to pick people off after he composed himself. He came all the way back for a podium finish bringing home the 3rd Place trophy for the day. Not only did he get third on the day he found out that he is sitting in 3rd place overall in the PA State Series!
Racing resumes in 2 weeks when we make the big trip to Ohio for Endurocross and then back home to race a harescramble at Skippack. That’s right, we are racing on Saturday on Ohio State’s campus in their arena, and then driving through the night to come back home for the annual Skippack harescramble. It’s going to be a long weekend but it’s going to be one heck of an accomplishment. See you at Skippack!
I would like to Thank my Sponsors: DHAGGS Harescramble Racing, MSR Racing, Scott Powersports, Kenda USA, DP Brakes, Scott USA, TAG Metals, Decal Works, Twin Air, IMS, Devol Eng., FMF, TM Designworks, Cycra Racing
